The Plan

The new plan, or rather list of things to do is up based on some feedback and some brain storming. It's not prioritized or scheduled yet but it seems like a reasonable pile of work to keep me occupied.

As normal, if you think anything is missing (no, not avatars) then comment back.

Materials Cheat Sheet

Added a little tool to generate a cheat sheet for the materials available in Mootox, this could be useful while level designing. I'll be updating it as more level themes become available.

Ornaments

Ornaments went in tonight, so the levels can be decorated. Useful little feature to add character to the tracks:

BART :)

A great skin based on the Bart Man himself, complete with custom skateboard wheels. The physics model has been left alone so the skin can be used for time trials too!

Things are still moving quickly,

* Skinnable wheels
* New menu styling
* Fixed a bunch of UI bugs
* Colour coded chat
* Best Times Maintained on the Server
* EXE/JAR installers for the webstart afeared.

The game guide is starting to get padded out too.

Valentine's Day, and much to my Wife's annoyance (well not really) I was up to 2am adding and improving Mootox Features:

* Network smoothing - the code should smooth out network updates now, so lag spikes shouldn't cause warping.
* Taunts - Pressing 1-5 displays a taunt above your truck. These are configured in your player.properties.
* Voting - In online play you can now vote to change the track. /vote and then other players can vote /yes or /no. If over 50% agree then the track changes immediately (scoring still occurs tho)
* MOTD - Message of the day on the server is displayed to clients on connect.
* Tilting Controls - you can now tilt the truck in mid air by repressing left/right (or using up and down).
* HTTP Status - the server now starts a HTTP server to provide status information for the server (on one port higher than the configured). Check Server Status on the right for an example.
* Chat display updates, messages are coloured coded (taunts, chat and server). You can also recall the last lines of text (after they've faded out) by hitting tab.

ToDo!

Mootox already plays, it's pretty fun especially in multiplayer. However, there's still a lot of stuff on the todo list. Here's the current pending stuff:

* Update Menus to use SUI - should make the more complicated screens more fluent
* Installer for Windows - there's already a standalone boot client, but an installer for windows would just be decent
* Taunts
* Avatars
* Thread the Server
* Dedicated Server support (and host one on bob)
* Land Mines - could be interesting across the network
* Thread connection - to stop the lock up and the moaning ;)
* Web Site - Web site needs to contain download links etc
* Other Weapons?
* Power Ups - Speed Up, Sticky Wheels?, Super Jumps
* Entities/Ornaments - for background items, trees, stop signs etc.
* Online Best Times - online best times table
* Matchmaker Integrate - integrate the newdawn match maker service
* Dynamic Objects - physics objects that can be run into, boxes, bridges, balls etc
* More online modes - capture the flag equivilent or something?
* Skinnable Wheels
* Control Tweaking - improve control system to allow for tilting in mid-air
